People who are socially engaged are more likely to be happy—and less likely to be depressed—than those who aren't. In fact, Time Magazine poll found that the four most significant sources of happiness—children (77 percent), friendships (76 percent), contributing to the lives of others (75 percent), and spouse/partner (73 percent)—all involved spending meaningful time with other people. The problem: “We're so caught up with extraordinary work burdens, we don't have time to enjoy the people we love or contribute to the lives of others,” says Post. That time crunch is quite real, says John de Graaf, president of the public policy organization Take Back Your Time. “Compared to 30 years ago, the average family now spends an extra 500 hours per year working outside the home。

Those most impacted: affluent families who chose even larger homes over living closer to work, and younger families who are priced out of homes of any size closer to centers of employment.。

How to spend the spare time as a college student
Generally speaking, spare time, especially two-day weekends, are not only a time for us college students to relax, but also a time to improve ourselves. To test from a week's hard work, we have plenty of recreation opportunities. We can read to our hearts' content, can go sightseeing, and can play games with our friends. Some students find part time jobs at weekends so that they can ease their families' financial burdens.
However, some students are just wasting their time. Some spend their time playing cards, and even drinking and eating with their friends. Some spend the whole weekend going traveling and feel tired when they return to school, so that their studies will be greatly affected.
As a student, I think the first thing I should do is to go over the lessons. Spending two or three hours in going over lessons every weekend will give me great returns. After finishing my schoolwork, I can do many other things, for example, mountain climbing, watching films and skating. In short, if we plan well, we can achieve a bit on weekends. Otherwise, we'll get nothing.
My College Life How time flies! It has been two years since I came to XXX College. In the two years, many things have happened. I also meet a lot of friends here. Two years is not too long for man's life. But the two years I lived on campus has changed me a lot. For example, from the day I was born to the day I went to school, I had never left home alone for a long time and do housework by myself. How to deal with my roommates and classmates? These questions were all difficult for me to work out at that time. Today I get on well with them and do everything in life calmly. But all these changes were not easy for me. Sometimes I feel lonely, angry and also homesick. But fortunately I meet a lot of good friends. They helped me spend these sad days. I find words cannot express my sincere thanks to them. When they need help, I will do everything I can to help those who helped me before. I'll have another two years in college, which I will treasure with my friends. Everything in college will be my great memory in my life for ever.。

My my praise of school
steps foot on the campus,
the fragrance of books fills the air, a gust of breeze,
blowing gently. The campus is a poem, the campus is a song,
the campus is a historical long river, the campus is a maple leaf of Fragrant Hills. Here is the ocean of a poem, here is the paradise of a song,
we grow up here, we reap here. Our campus, the paradise dreamt of!
